Verve Pipe

The Verve Pipe was in town for Austin City Limits Festival in 2010, but only to play songs from their newly released children’s album. However, they managed to score a side gig that evening at Saxon Pub, playing all their “regular” songs for the 21 and up crowd, and I worked with their manager to create a poster for the show. My brain started thinking of the name Verve Pipe literally, wandering from “pipe,” to “hookah,” to “India,” and all of the sudden a theme was born, so I used the Indian god Ganesha as my subject, along with Indian decorative treatments.

The guys were happy with the way it turned out, and it made me happy to hear that Brian Vander Ark has this poster hanging in his studio in Michigan.
